Large upright panicles of crinkled mauve to purple flowers held above the crown through the wet season, with foliage that colours red and orange before falling. The strongest purple in the catalogue, and a genuine two-season tree.

Landscape use
Parks, streets, campuses and residential planting. The upright habit and moderate spread suit narrower verges and courtyards where a spreading canopy tree would not fit.
It is at its most generous where water is reliable, so on Gulf schemes it belongs in irrigated zones — courtyards, podium gardens and planted medians — where it will give its full purple display.
