Fine lacy foliage and drooping panicles of scented lilac flowers, on a fast-growing, deeply drought-hardy frame. A close relative of neem and similarly undemanding, with considerably more ornamental value.

Landscape use
Street and car park planting, courtyards, dry-country parks and quick shade on difficult sites. The light open canopy casts dappled rather than dense shade, which suits underplanting.
Fast establishment and real drought hardiness make it valuable where shade is needed quickly and irrigation is limited. Best sited over planting or informal ground, where the berry fall settles naturally.
