A tall, straight-trunked tree with the tiered horizontal branching typical of the genus, carried higher and more upright than Terminalia mantaly. West African in origin and widely planted across the tropics for avenue work and timber.

Landscape use
Avenue and boulevard planting, car parks, and large-scale shade schemes. The clear straight trunk lifts the canopy well above vehicle and pedestrian height, which makes it easier to use over circulation than a low spreading species.
Specified for structure and shade, with the clean tiered form doing the visual work. Where a scheme wants the same character at a smaller scale, Terminalia mantaly is the natural companion.
