A compact, deeply drought-hardy fruiting tree with glossy foliage and edible dates, long cultivated across the dry belt from China to the Mediterranean. The smaller, cold-tolerant counterpart to Ziziphus spina-christi.

Landscape use
Edible and productive landscapes, courtyards, heritage gardens, dry-country parks and low-water schemes. Its compact scale suits sites where the larger canopy species would be too much.
Grown on with a clear stem it sits comfortably beside paths and seating. Where a scheme wants the same hardiness at greater scale, Ziziphus spina-christi is the natural companion.
