Native to the Arabian Peninsula and the Levant, and the species in this catalogue best adapted to Gulf conditions — because it is a Gulf tree. Deep-rooting, evergreen through summer, and productive on alkaline soil that defeats most imported stock. It carries cultural weight in the region that no substitute matches.
